Place of quiet contemplation - The mortuary chapel was built as a place of quiet contemplation for relatives and acquaintances of the park founder. In the chapel there are plaques with the names of the baron's close friends. One of the plaques bears the inscription: "Make your living friends new and valuable every day, so that you don't only realize too late after their death how much you had in them."

In addition, in the 19th century also buried three dead of the Truchsess family in it. Its location at the highest point of the park, i.e. at a supposed spring, suggests that the opening with death into the cycle of life should be symbolized here. On the right-hand panel in the chapel, the lord of the castle commemorated his relatives and on the left-hand panel, deceased friends who were particularly dear to the lord of the castle, such as Georg Herzog zu Sachsen-Meiningen.
