            The house was built at the end of the 18th century and consists of two buildings. In 1865, the owners added a solid transverse wing to the north side of the original small half-timbered house. Until the 1960s, there was a small shop on the ground floor. Since 2000, the house has been used as a restaurant.

            The Benedictine monastery was founded in 1136. Under its protection, the present-day city of Chemnitz developed in the 12th century. In 1548, the monastery was dissolved, and the complex was converted into the Elector's palace. In 1859, the rural communities of Schlossgasse and Schlossvorwerk merged to form the district of Schlosschemnitz.
