This area has a fascinating history from the Saxons and Romans to maritime history and farming. Beccles Museum is usually open throughout the summer season, from April to October. Located in the west of historic Beccles, just at the top of the pretty Cliff House Steps, you’ll find the entrance through the wonderful garden at the back of the building.
This museum holds a fascinating cornucopia of local history, with outstanding exhibitions revealing the milling, malting, farming and engineering past of the area. It has information and exhibitions covering neighbouring settlements like Barsham, Mettingham, Shipmeadow, Goldston and Weston.
It’s free to enter but you can donate if you’d like to support the museum.
