This radar tower was permanently manned until the 1990s. It is now remotely controlled by air traffic control in Langen. The tower transmits its data to Langen, Karlsruhe and Maastricht.

The plant is used to monitor the southwest German airspace and was formerly staffed with staff of the German air traffic control. Meanwhile, it has been converted to unmanned operation. The information is transmitted via radio to DFS to Langen and via its own ground line to the control centers in Karlsruhe and Maastricht.
