From the outside, the austerity of the church, which dominates the market square, is striking. It was rebuilt after the town fire of 1850 in the so-called Kameralamt style: sparingly, as befits a true Württemberg church.
Rarely do the exterior and interior offer such a fascinating contrast: with the 1976/77 renovation, Heinz Rall created a community space entirely in keeping with the theological and architectural aspirations of the Protestant church of that time, a space for worship, celebrations, and theater.

The predecessor building of today's Protestant St. Mauritius Church burned down in a town fire in 1849.
This predecessor church was first mentioned in 1241 and was owned by the Lords of Neuffen, although a church probably existed in Güglingen as early as the 8th century. A round tower on the south side of the church dates back to that time. The date 1598 is inscribed in the Renaissance portal, the oldest existing part of the church. In 1762, it was converted into a Baroque church.
The current church was built in 1850 and its interior renovated in 1976/77.
