The Sulzschachten lies at an altitude of 1230 meters and is most easily reached by hiking over the Großer Falkenstein. The Sulzschachten was first mentioned in 1755 and, with its area of 1.1 hectares, is one of the smaller shafts in the Bavarian Forest National Park. The many blueberries that grow there are typical of the Sulzschachten.
