At the end of the jetty stands the huge statue of Imperia. The statue is the embodiment of a novel by Honoré de Balzac. In its history, Imperia was a shrewd courtesan who had turned his head on the clergy and secular dignitaries during the Council of Constance. Therefore, two small, naked little men sit on their hands - a king and a clergyman.

Although the Imperia is only a fictional character, many prostitutes, mistresses and courtesans have actually lived in Constance during the four-year Council and spoiled the council participants. No wonder, then, that there was some protest from the Catholic Church when the Imperia was unveiled in 1993. Meanwhile, she is a popular tourist attraction in the beautiful city on Lake Constance.
