Rewarding, easy to drive in the lower part, since the gradients are between 6 and 8%. The last 900m (distance, not altitude) you have to climb again in the pedals (about 15% slope). When you're up there, the effort is quickly forgotten and enjoys the incredible panorama!

Great view on the top, but hard won. Unfortunately we did not choose the ideal translation for the last kilometer. It was one of the best views in the best weather. We started at 7.30. So we could fully enjoy the driveway in low traffic. At 10 o'clock the pass was heavily used.

Leaving aside the famous debate about whether the summit of La Bonette is the highest paved mountain pass in Europe, any cycle tourist should aspire to climb this beautiful mountain pass in the south of the Alps. I have climbed it many times and it has always seemed to me a wonderful experience.
From a sporting point of view, the challenge offered by this mountain pass on both sides is undeniable. Both sides have more than 1,500 metres of gradient and more than 20 km of ascent. The altitude is an added element that gives this mountain pass more incentive. The road is perfectly paved and has an adequate width.
From a scenic point of view, it is a marvel for mountain lovers. You can enjoy the fauna, especially the marmots in the early hours of the day. The views from the summit are wonderful, you can see the sea, so close and far away at the same time.
A MUST!!!

If you have reached the top of the pass, you absolutely must continue with the summit road, there is certainly a difficult passage with a slope of 13/14% and quite often gusts of wind, but it is the real highlight of the show, the cherry on the cake, the grand finale! In a word, it is a magnificent and unique site.
