The hospital church or Ägidikirche was built from 1443 to 1453, adjoining the former community hospital to the east. The term hospital refers to a retirement home in today's sense. A hospital in the modern sense did not exist in Mödling until 1882. Before that, a so-called hospital was only set up temporarily in the event of epidemics.
The hospital church repeatedly served as a parish church when the Othmarkirche was destroyed and unusable, such as after the Turkish wars. The late Gothic hall church was originally dedicated to Saint Catherine.

The St. The late Gothic hall church dedicated to Aegydius with a steep gabled roof and gable turret was built from 1443 to 1453 as the eastern end of the former public hospital building. The oldest bell in Mödling, dating from 1683, is in the church.
