Info Natuurenbos.be:
"Your walk in the Sint-Jansberg domain forest in Zelem will undoubtedly be a real voyage of discovery. The forest is characterized by a wide variety of tree species of different ages. Surrounded by agricultural land and old standard orchards, some trees in this forest have been standing since 1900. Not surprisingly. that tree dwellers, such as the squirrel and woodpecker, have a great time here, and even the dead wood is teeming with life, whose history is closely linked to the neighboring Carthusian Monastery, so that the domain forest also contains important archaeological values. Up to now, eight hectares of the field around the Carthusian Monastery has already been forested with local tree species.
