The "Bächle" is artificially fed by three fountains near the moated castle and runs completely through the town centre of Bad Rappenau to the Kursene lake. It was built on the occasion of the 2008 State Garden Show.

Objective of the Rappenauer Bächle:
The spa lake in the town of Bad Rappenau is an important place to relax, not only for spa guests, but also for the local population.
The water quality was heavily affected in the past by the discharge of relief runoff from the combined sewer system.
To improve the water quality, deep wells were drilled to a depth of over 100m to feed the spa lake in the area of the water castle!
The 760m long drainage to the spa lake was originally planned as a closed pipeline, but after careful discussion the local council decided on an "open Bächle". This "blue ribbon" from the water castle to the spa lake is intended to revitalize the town center with fresh water in the future.
