A living fence made of sloping willow branches - may look inconspicuous, but is really great!
For years we have followed how this fence develops, grows and thrives. We are always excited about this lively, relatively inconspicuous natural work of art.
It always reminds me of my childhood. My father had built / woven an arbor in the garden from willow branches stuck in the ground, which grew en masse here on the Eider. A "leftover" from the time in which the convicts had woven baskets etc. out of the willow branches in the penitentiary of that time. The willow cuttings have almost all grown without further support and have made the arbor "opaque". So the whole arbor just kept growing. We even had a bench woven from willow rods, which just grew into the ground, sprouted and began to grow.
Unfortunately, our beautiful garden in Rendsburg on Kieler Strasse was simply "flattened" by the construction of the new park settlement. What a shame, I would have loved to have watched the growth of the arbor and bench over the years.
