In a small section of Bonn's Rheinaue - a park that was completely redesigned for the 1979 Federal Garden Show and today serves the population as the green lung of the city - there is a garden for the blind. The fountain there embodies an old tale with an elephant and several blind people touching it.

Once upon a time there were five wise scholars. They were all blind. These scholars were sent on a journey by their king and were supposed to find out what an elephant is. And so the blind men set off on a journey to India. There they were led by helpers to an elephant. The five scholars stood around the animal and tried to get an idea of the elephant by touching it.
