The Åry estate is closely linked to the ry ironworks, which has a long and interesting history and offers an insight into the Småland ironworks tradition. Åry is mentioned as early as the Middle Ages as a healing house and later as a manor. During the great power period, the Åry ironworks was founded in 1645. Swamp and sea ore served as raw material and was processed into bar iron in the blast furnace.

In the 18th century, production developed with the production of several everyday agricultural items. At the end of the 19th century, the era of ironworks was over and iron became wood. There was also a glassworks on the site for a short time. The sawmill operated until 1955, when it was converted into a chipboard factory, which operated until 1985.
