Since 2005, the Sainte Madeleine church has become a municipal building. If the building has been regularly maintained, renovation work was necessary and began in September 2019 with first of all a total renovation of the interior: painting, joinery, stained glass, restoration of the 14 paintings of the Stations of the Cross, heating , sound system and floors (with in particular the checkerboard in stone from Vilhonneur, in Charente and granite from Zimbabwe) as well as the restoration of all the statues. The creation of the monumental fresco inside the church was entrusted to Lille artist Amaury Dubois. This unique work, created to measure, respects the religious and spiritual dimension of the place, while resonating with the singular and colorful identity of our town today ... Push the door of the church and let yourself be guided by the celestial vault and its gradient of blue. The volutes will guide you gradually towards the choir bathed in light where the almost alive colored volutes envelop the altar. In order to highlight the whole, it was necessary to set up lighting to match the renovation. Four atmospheres were thus programmed to create an atmosphere specific to each event (worship, show, etc.). Then the exterior of the building was also renovated to give the whole a comparable youthful impression inside.
