If you are looking for the highest point in Schleswig-Holstein, you have come to the right place! At 167 meters above sea level, the Bungsberg is certainly not a giant, but it is the highest point in the state by far. The way here leads through a beautiful forest and is always worth a hike!

The Bungsberg is 167.4 m above sea level. NHN the highest elevation in Schleswig-Holstein.

The Elisabethturm observation tower, the Bungsberg transmitter and the Bungsberg telecommunications tower with a viewing platform are located on it. One of the longest rivers in Schleswig-Holstein rises near the Bungsberg with the Schwentine.

The radio tower with its viewing platform is in poor and unclean general condition, smearings, waste. Not a representative excursion point for tourism, for Holstein's highest mountain.
Free of charge - no entry, unfortunately it has a trail of aftertaste. Dear 2 euros entry and therefore clean.

Anyone who loves hiking and is out and about in Ostholstein should definitely visit the 168 meter high Bungsberg, which forms the highest elevation of a postglacial terminal moraine landscape. This hilly area is beautiful and criss-crossed by numerous alleys with centuries-old oak trees. 🥰

The Bungsberg is located near Schönwalde in the district of Ostholstein and at almost 168 meters is the highest point in Schleswig-Holstein. The Schwentine, one of the longest rivers in Schleswig-Holstein, has its source at the foot of the mountain formed during the Ice Age. On the Bungsberg there is a visitor plateau with a lookout tower and information center, which can be reached either after a short hike, bike ride or alternatively by car. Just a few minutes' walk from the plateau, a boulder points the way to the summit stone.

A signpost states that the elevation is 168 m high. On top of it are the Elisabethturm observation tower, the Bungsberg transmitter and the Bungsberg radio tower with observation platform.

At just over 167 m, the Bungsberg is the highest mountain in Schleswig-Holstein! Please note that you are not yet at the actual summit when you reach the observation towers. This is a little further north - clearly recognizable by a grassy hill and a rock. The view from here is not quite as far as from the tower, but it is still special.
