Commemorative plaque of iron drawbridge: Yzergietery De Prins van Oranje 's Hage 1888 (Note: The bridge was made in 1888 by iron foundry De Prins van Oranje)
From the Goudsche Courant of 1-8-2003.
Beijersche Bridge near Stolwijk. The restoration of this listed bridge still cannot begin. Despite the fact that the Krimpenerwaard Water Board has received a subsidy of € 111,000 from the province, they are still short of tons for a complete restoration. There is still a concrete emergency bridge where the
characteristic iron drawbridge was rammed by a truck ten years ago.
The parts of the bridge are located on a site belonging to the Hoogheemraadschap. Neighborhood Beijersch Belang finds the emergency bridge dangerous, impractical, too slippery and too narrow. However, Mr Blonk, who lives nearby, objected to the restoration of the old bridge, because he prefers to see a wider concrete bridge appear. Although he was unsuccessful, he is appealing the recovery plans. Project leader de Haan of the Water Board announces that it has been agreed with the municipality, the province and the Beijersch Belang Foundation that the old bridge will be restored.
