The famous Kulmbach painter and honorary citizen Michel Weiß was born in the beautiful half-timbered building on September 19, 1867 as the second of six children.
He did an apprenticeship with the sculptor Haferkorn, and the Plassenburg pastor Heinel gave him drawing and painting lessons. At the age of 17 he went to the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich.
In 1892 he settled down as a freelance painter in the house where he was born.
