    Curious what the landscape you are walking through today looks like? Then climb up into this tower and take a look. There was originally a hut on this spot. The hut was a so-called Hessen hut: the Hessen roads were trade routes from Germany to Utrecht, and one of these roads led over the Goudsberg. The hut was built here in the 1950s.

      The Hessenweg runs right across the Goudsberg, which used to be the connection between Amersfoort and Arnhem. Hessenwegen were old trade routes that ran from Germany in the direction of Utrecht. A Hessenhut was built on top of the Goudsberg in the 1950s. After several arson attacks, this hut was eventually not rebuilt. There is now a watchtower on the site of the hut. Source:
