Deer ponds and elector ponds are part of the villa lakes. The villa lakes are remnants of the opencast mining that was previously operated in the Ville. These remaining holes from mining are now important spawning, breeding and retreat areas for the native fauna.

The path along the lake ends at a stream inlet that can be crossed by balancing over a tree trunk. If you then want to follow the Katzenlochbach, you have to cross the creek again elsewhere, but you do not get there over dry feet. Nevertheless, the pond in the middle of the forest is a nice place to stay and the streams for children to play.
