The Roßtrappe is 403 m above sea level. NN high granite rock in the Harz Mountains. According to legend, the giant Bodo once pursued the beautiful king's daughter Brunhilde, whom he wanted to marry against her will. Brunhilde escaped on a white steed, but suddenly a deep abyss opened up in front of her. With a bold leap she crossed over to the rock on the other side, where she lost her crown, which sank in the raging river. However, her pursuer fell and was turned into a dog who has been guarding the princess' crown ever since. The impression of the horse's hoof can still be seen today. The giant Bodo gave the river the name Bode. (Source: Wikipedia)
