A magnificent place with an absolutely fantastic all-round view. The ancient oaks provide plenty of shade, and the numerous benches invite you to linger.

You are very awestruck and wonder what legend or story surrounds the oak, whereupon they have the honor of being called "Holy Oak". And then something much more interesting came out. Namely, that there are two oaks that were planted with a difference of 50 years. The interesting thing is that the oak trees no longer show any age difference.

There are actually two oak trees that bear the common name “Sacred Oak”. The first oak was planted in 1863 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Leipzig, and the second oak was planted in the same place 50 years later on the occasion of the centenary of the same event. Their growth no longer reveals any age difference.

The Sosenberg (326 m) is a beautiful vantage point with a view of the Kellerwald to the north with the highest point, the “Hohes Lohr” transmission mast. To the south the view extends over the Wohratal, the “Burgholzer Wand” and the town of Rauschenberg.

Location is good for a break.
