Historic landmarks from the 18th century
As small monuments, boundary stones are evidence of earlier domains or territorial conditions. Until the French Revolution, the political map of our region was like a patchwork quilt. In addition to large and medium-sized states, there were small territories that comprised only a few villages or sometimes even a single village. The boundary stones of the 18th century are a remnant of this period. They were set in 1762 when the border was established between the villages of Landsweiler, Lebach and Jabach, which belong to the four-rule Lebach, and the Nassau-Saarbrückischen localities of Eidenborn and Knorscheid. The four-rule included Lebach, Niedersaubach, Rümmelbach, Landsweiler, Hahn, Wahlen, Jabach, Lamotte Castle and the Greinhof. The ownership structure of the rare form of four-rule changed over the course of history. At the end of the 18th century, the Lords of Hagen each owned two sevenths of their Lamotte, Kurtrier and the Duchy of Palatinate-Zweibrücken. The last seventh belonged to the Abbey of Fraulautern. The French Revolution, the rule of Napoleon and the subsequent reorganization of Germany and Europe ended the rule of four. Source: Text information board
