The hammer cutting mill is located west of Wallenfels on the Wilder Rodach and directly on the Franconian Forest Steigla Dörnach-Steig. It owes its name to an old hammer mill that was needed during the silver mining and was located near today's hammer mill. The sawmill was first mentioned in a document in the mill register from 1605. Until 1934, an undershot wooden water wheel was responsible for driving the mill. The house belonging to the cutting mill was demolished in 1966 because it was in disrepair. At the end of 1988 the sawing operation was officially discontinued and the hammer mill was seldom worked. The building and the Mühlbach fell into disrepair. In 1997, those interested in the hammer mill decided to repair it again.

The mill was first mentioned in 1605 and owes its name to an old hammer mill that was needed during the silver mining. Operations officially ceased in 1988. It has been continuously rebuilt since 1997 in order to preserve it for posterity.
