          The St. George fountain on Heider Südermarkt was created in 1989 by sculptor Siegfried Assmann. It shows the figure of St. George killing the dragon.
          Eight relief panels contain depictions of Heider and Dithmarscher history.
          The fountain is 5 meters high, 4 meters wide and has 3 levels.

          The dragon lies defenseless on its back with its back arched, its legs stretched up. On its belly stands the brave warrior, confident and victorious, thrusting his long lance into the dragon's open mouth.
          The arrangement of the elements, the dragon below, the leaning body of the warrior above and the thrusting lance, creates a balanced balance that underlines the confidence of the fighting man. There is no question as to who will be the winner here.
