"Our mill was built in 1850 by HB Meyer. After only two years he had to sell the mill, probably because of the death of his wife. Since then (1852) the mill has been in the possession of the Pijnappel family. The windmills of Babberich, Ooy (municipality of Zevenaar), Duiven, Pannerden, Klarenbeek, and Posterenk, owned by the Pijnappels, form a real miller's and baker's family.

As with many mills in the Netherlands, this was a miller's business annex bakery and farm. After the 4th generation Pijnappel, which consisted of the brothers Antoon (the miller) Hein (the baker) and Jan (the farmer), this triptych came to an end. A 5th generation was not there for the farm and bakery due to the lack of a successor. A new generation presented itself for the mill: Jan Pijnappel, a son of Hein. At that time, milling animal feed was the main activity of Molen De Hoop.

As soon as the aforementioned goal was dropped, Jan started to concentrate on the exploitation of the mill and groceries. Since September 2014, Jan and his wife Henriëtte Grutterij-Molen have transferred “De Hoop” Oud-Zevenaar to us, the current managers: Frits and Maaike Botter. "
