Yanguas is located at the gates of a canyon on the Cidacos River that leads to La Rioja. The beauty of the town has made it enter by its own right into the association of The Most Beautiful Towns in Spain.

Its historic group of stone houses, especially slate, preserves the appearance of traditional architecture. In addition, it houses centuries-old monuments such as the Romanesque churches of San Lorenzo and Santa María, among other buildings of heritage relevance.

Beautiful village in the Highlands. Almost bordering the province of La Rioja and framed in a spectacular environment, everything shines in Yanguas, both its nature.
Of interest is the architecture based on ashlar (slate or flagstone), masonry and wooden and rammed earth frameworks, of notable uniformity, as well as stately buildings and the Plaza Mayor.
As unique buildings, the Castle (with mud walls and towers), the parish church of San Lorenzo (15th century Gothic), the town gates and the old hospital stand out.
The importance of the town in past times has left a monumental complex of interest, declared a Historical-Artistic Complex in the 1980s. Of this it is worth highlighting:
- Gates of the River and the Town: old steps of the wall remain today as ornamental arches, the only vestige of the town's medieval walls.
- Yanguas Castle
- Church of San Lorenzo: late Gothic. Its main interest lies in the fact that the chest of the Yanguas town hall is kept there. This chest was where the town's legal documents were kept. It had four padlocks, each of the keys was in the possession of one of the mayors of the town and his land so that it could not be opened without the others being present. Additionally, council meetings were held in this church.
- Town hall: From the 18th century, it is a building that dominates the town's main square.
- Church of Santa María: from the 16th century it is the most important of the churches in Yanguas, parish of the disappeared Villa Vieja. There is a chapel where the Santo Cristo de la Villa Vieja is preserved. Separated from the church by an imposing fence that symbolizes that, just as the church belongs to the town, the chapel belongs to the entire community of 25 towns. It also has an interesting Plateresque altarpiece.
- Bridge over the Cidacos River. Although there is doubt about its origin, it is most likely of medieval origin. Three Eyes is the old passage of the road that led to Calahorra and is now pedestrian.
- Torre de San Miguel: Only vestige of the disappeared church of the same name. The historian Esteban de Garibay pointed out that King Aurelio of Asturias was buried, along with his father, Fruela de Cantabria, in the currently missing church of San Miguel de Yanguas.12 It is located far from the town although it was probably very close to the last houses of the Old Town. It is Catalan Romanesque style, the only example of this in the province of Soria. It is a free-standing tower that preserves a couple of rudimentary graffiti inside that allude to the patron saint of the church. Due to its location and morphology, it has been thought that it could have functioned as a gate to the ancient Roman town of Yanguas and as a guard for the Roman road that linked Numancia with Calahorra.
Museum of Sacred Art: a small museum installed in the old parish house. It has different religious carvings of varying interest.
The natural environment of Yanguas is very rich, although the closest mountains are deforested due to the great livestock activity that the area had until the 19th century. 8km along a secondary road is the Diustes beech forest, which is especially beautiful in autumn. About 30 meters away is Acebal de Garagüeta, one of the largest reserves of this shrub in Spain. The Cidacos River leaves its banks full of groves and olme groves and is a fishing preserve in some areas.
