Shepherd Thomas Rebre's herd of Heidschnucken herd can be found in the Amelinghausen heather region.

Don't be surprised: goats can also be seen under the Heidschnucken, they support the Schnucken, as goats bite off pioneer trees such as birch and pine even more.

Shepherd Rebre and his herd move from one of the surrounding heaths to the next pasture all year round. If you keep your eyes and ears open in the Amelinghausen heather region, with a bit of luck you can see and, above all, hear the heather sheep in the landscape.

During the winter, the herd moves into the Heidschnuckenstall in the Kronsbergheide. Visitors are invited here in spring, when the lambs are born and with their curiosity and playful instinct, there is plenty of excitement.

Election of the heather queen on the Kronsberg

Anyone visiting Kronsbergheide should first know that the heather queen of Amelinghausen has been officially elected here since 1950 and that it is therefore a historical place for the Amelinghausen community.

Landscape around the Kronsberg

For vacationers, in addition to the coronation in August, the beautiful landscape that extends around the heather is particularly interesting. There is also the Heidschnuckenstall, the winter quarters of the Heidschnucken of Amelinghausen.

If you enjoy hiking, you should know that the two so-called premium hiking trails "Queen's Path" and "Sagenhafter-Hünen-Weg" lead through the Kronsbergheide. You can get more information and maps from the Amelinghausen Tourist Information Office.

The Kronsbergheide, which is rather small in terms of area, is located directly on the B209, at the entrance to Amelinghausen, coming from Lüneburg. Thus it is almost opposite the Lopausee and can therefore be easily combined with a circumnavigation of the lake.
