The building of the New Town Hall in Einbeck has a varied history:
Built in 1868 as Prussian barracks and used until 1896
1896-1907 Mechanical Engineering School ("Technikum")
Rebuilt and enlarged in 1907, including the clock tower, for the mail-order company August Stukenbrok, until 1931
1937-1989 Heidemann works (bicycles and car parts)
1990 demolition of the production halls
1995/96 Renovation of the old building and extension by new buildings
From March 1996 Town Hall

The building was erected around 1869 as a barracks for the Prussian army. The building was used for military purposes until 1896. In 1907 August Stukenbrok bought the building, had it expanded on the west side and from then on used it as an office building for August Stukenbrok Einbeck, the second oldest mail order company in Germany, which mainly sold bicycles. It later became part of the Heidemann company, which, like Stukenbrok, produced bicycles. It has been the seat of the Einbeck city administration since 1996, as the old town hall on the market square became too small.
