Kandel is located on the edge of the protected landscape area Bienwaldes and only 11 kilometers from France. The city of Kandel is located about halfway between Landau and Karlsruhe in the Upper Rhine Plain.

Three attractive neighbors, Palatinat, Middle Upper Rhine and North Alsace, form this area, whose supraregional pulse can be felt in Kandel.

So it's no wonder that it is easy to stroll through selected specialist shops, historic passages and narrow streets here.

"Toute de suite", as we like to say, leads from the "Kandel shopping mile" up to the "Plätzel". Vis á vis is the St. George Tower, one of the most important late Gothic monuments in the Palatinate.

Charming half-timbered houses adjoin historical buildings and are exactly the right setting for our celebrations.

The people here are friendly and uncomplicated. We like to come together for our guests with music, wine and Palatinate delicacies.

Our city is known as the "gateway to the Bienwald". It offers entry to the Bienwald with its varied cycling and hiking trails and precious natural beauties.

Kandel is located in the beautiful southern Palatinate, right on the edge of the Bienwald. With around 9,000 inhabitants, Kandel is a charming little town with a distinctive character. The Langenkandel, which originally consisted of the Upper, Middle and Lower Candelions, has long since grown together to form an approximately 3.6 km long unit and has expanded considerably in its center.

Kandel has a lot to offer in terms of tourism, even if it is not always so obvious at first glance. The gentle hills of the vineyards in the west, the silver ribbon of the Rhine in the east, the legendary Bienwald in the south and the fertile vegetable and tobacco fields in the north can be wonderfully explored on almost endless bike paths. Hikers will also get their money's worth in the directly adjacent Bienwald. Excursions to the neighboring Alsace are possible on very good hiking trails.
