There is always someone who gets the ball rolling. Without that someone, everything would stay the way it is. There are then no gardens in which several stone giants are socializing. There is not a single erratic garden in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Because who would roll up the colossi? Who will attach labels to them and make sure that people find out about this place?
Fortunately, there are those hobby geologists and stone friends who are interested in the silent witnesses of the Ice Age as lone fighters or organized in clubs. Since the turn of 1989/90 many silent witnesses of the Ice Age have come to light during the construction of highways in the country, in gravel pits and in the fields. Many of them hiked in erratic gardens, of which there are now 26 according to the State Office for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Geology in Güstrow.
