The historic market fountain represents significant events in the city's history. Magdeburg graduate sculptor Frank Sobirey was commissioned by the city of Aken (Elbe) to create the artistic design of the fountain. The sculptor's plaster models were cast in bronze in Magdeburg, in the foundry of the Schuster building and natural stone company, using the lost wax process. They reflect the lively history of the city of Aken (Elbe).
