You find yourself standing in front of this magnificent suspension bridge completely unexpectedly, it is even equipped with traffic lights and a visitor's book.
Description:
They are usually built as tourist attractions - suspension bridges in Switzerland. Whether on the Aletsch or Trift glaciers; the Peak Walk near Les Diablerets or the Cliff Walk near Engelberg. This is about even more thrills and spectacular views for the guests. Or to put it another way, about equipping the Alps as a theme park.
The suspension bridge in Bondo is completely different. It connects the village, which was badly hit by the landslide, with the buildings on the other side of the Bondasca, for example the grottos and the mayor's office. It was built less for tourists than for locals who want to quickly get to the other part of the village. Or walk from the bus station in Promontogno to Bondo. And: It is only 83 meters long, one meter wide and not very high either (maybe 25-30 meters). It is provisional and will make way for a more solid version when the mountain is calm and there is no longer any risk of landslides. Last but not least, it was built with donations.
