According to tradition, Mount Tabor is the place of transfiguration of Jesus. But it is also a tribal border, because according to the Hebrew Bible, the prophetess Deborah expelled her enemies and it is the rabbinic "navel of the world". Rising up to 588 meters to the east of the Jezreel Valley, the hill alone is worth a climb for the view - all around you is one of the most fertile areas of Israel at your feet. Afula is the nearest major city and is located 21 kilometers southwest.
