The old Kástro of Skiathos is located on a 120m high cliff. Framed on three sides by steep cliffs, it used to only be accessible via a drawbridge. Between 1300 and 1830, this was the main town or retreat of the island. Today, Kástro is an uninhabited settlement, well developed and restored, with churches worth seeing and a wonderful viewing point.
Three churches are currently being renovated and this part is therefore not accessible. The rest can be viewed and the viewing point is also freely accessible.

Kastro site is closed at the minute due to renovation. Nice to stop for lunch with a view of it and a lot quieter than usual.

Unfortunately, the Kastro site is still closed for renovations.
The pirate tavern and the Kastro beach are still worth a visit.
