    Since 2012, this approx. 8 meter high bird observation tower has been located directly on the Main loop near Unterbrunn, which has been renatured in recent years (LIFE-Natur-Project Oberes Maintal), from which you have a very good view of the shallow water zones and gravel banks of the old quarry ponds.
    Numerous bird species can now be observed undisturbed from the tower platform.

            During the current visit, the rotting tree trunk in front of the lookout tower caught my eye. When I saw this for the first time, it was still relatively "fresh". Now I could observe lizards from time to time, which adorned this decaying piece of wood as a place to sunbathe and lie down. Also how at one end the conversion process becomes more dynamic. And grasses grow back from the new "soil".
