The Stony Man Lookout area is the most popular viewpoint in this part of Shenandoah National Park, and for good reason. The views are of the Shenandoah Valley and the Blue Ridge Mountains and go for miles. This viewpoint is also pretty close to a nearby parking area, so it's easily accessible even if you aren't doing a full-on hike.

When navigating Skyline Drive, the Appalachian High Road, it's worth stopping at Skyland Lodge in the heart of Shenandoah National Park. On a short walk you can be a few steps on the legendary Appalachian Trail and between the rocks at Stony Man you can enjoy a wide view over the undulating Appalachian mountains, especially at sunset.
