Dămuc is a commune in Neamț County, Transylvania, Romania, consisting of the villages of Dămuc (residence), Huisurez and Trei Fântâni.
The commune is located in the southwestern extremity of the county, on the border with Harghita county, at the foot of the Hășmaș mountains, in the hydrographic basin of the Dămuc river and in that of the Bicăjel river. It is crossed by the county road DJ127A, which connects it to the north of Bicaz-Chei (where it ends in DN12C) and to the south in Harghita county on an unpaved route from Lunca de Jos (where it ends in DN12A).
At the end of the 19th century, the territory of the commune was part of the Kingdom of Hungary in Austria-Hungary, within which it was assigned to the Gheorgheni district of Ciuc county; the maps of the time do not record any village in the commune area, but Dămuc village was a recently appeared village, within Bicaz commune. In 1918, the commune of Bicaz was occupied by the Romanian army, a state that claimed Transylvania, and in 1920 the transition to Romania was made official by the treaty of Trianon. It was included in Ciuc County. Dămuc commune appeared in 1939, by its separation from Bicaz-Chei commune. After the Vienna Dictate of 1940, the commune, together with the rest of Northern Transylvania, belonged to Hungary until 1944, when after August 23 it became part of Romania again.
