As a votive tablet could be taken, the Schlernkirchlein was built around the year 1797. The reason was Maria Kritzinger from the Deimlhof in Ums (Ums is a fraction of the municipality Völs am Schlern and has about 200 inhabitants). Since the cattle were saved by Maria Kritzinger, she had to build out of gratitude the chapel, which was consecrated next to the Holy Cassian Maria.
