The Rhine-Rhône Canal (official name: Canal du Rhône au Rhin) is a French shipping channel that runs in the regions of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and Grand Est and originally served as a continuous shipping connection between the Rhône and the Rhine. However, this economic aspect is outdated today.
For cyclists, however, it is important that the towpath along the canal is navigable by bike - and following the path along the branching Canal de Colmar, you come almost to the center of Colmar.

Beautiful bike path, completely away from the traffic, along the canal. Very romantic. Always summer not so hot.

A very beautiful bike path along the "Canal du Rhône au Rhin," mostly lined with a tree-lined avenue. This provides a shady bike path in the summer. Partially paved, but mostly gravel, but still easy to ride. Several cozy little restaurants offer refreshments along the way.
