History of Alp Flix
The Alp Flix is located on a plateau at almost 2000 m above sea level. in the municipality of Surses. A moorland landscape was created by standing water. The Alp Flix was conquered around 600 years ago by German-speaking Walsers who hiked from Avers via Bivio or Alp Faller. They cleared the Alp Flix plain and used it for agriculture. Various settlements, Las Curts, Tga Lucas, Tga d'Meir and Salategnas, were created and inhabited. Based on the documentation, around 200 people are said to have lived on Alp Flix around the year 1500. The plague epidemic of 1629 and 1630 decimated the population of Sur and Alp Flix and a few years later the residents of Alp Flix moved to Sur to build their lives there. From this point on, Alp Flix was managed as a Maiensäss from Sur. Today a few families live on Alp Flix all year round. The German magazine Geo had the plant and animal species scientifically examined and documented for a day. This resulted in the Treasure Island Alp Flix project.
