Veluwezoom is the oldest national park in Holland. This hilly landscape with forest, heath and shifting sand has been a protected area since 1931. You can wander freely on the paths and trails and there are plenty of opportunities for horseback riding, cycling and mountain biking. Don't be surprised if you suddenly come face to face with a red deer or a wild boar on the Veluwezoom.

Cycling through the Veluwezoom is a rush for the senses. From the Posbank in the direction of Dieren you have a descent of about 12 km in front of you. Simply gorgeous.👍

The cycle path leads past the sand field at some distance - make sure to stay on the official cycle paths (especially with MTB), otherwise it can get quite expensive here.

“Calluna vulgaris (heather) is in full bloom from August to September”.

There is a large parking lot at the Veluwezoom Visitor Center Heuvenseweg 5A Rheden.
Comfortable cycle paths take you along cycle junctions through the rolling nature reserve.
At the Veluwe Zoom National Park lookout point, the Zijpeberg at the Driesprong or at the Posbank you will always end up in a purple ecstasy. It is always a pleasure to enjoy the heathland that turns purple to the horizon.

Our purple dream has come true at the Veluwe Zoom 😉.
