The Old Airfield, formerly Maurice Rose Airfield, was an airfield used for military purposes until 1992. This was converted into a nature and leisure area from 2002.
Today you can reach the runway via the Auesteg, which is still there along its entire length, but is narrowed on the north side and leads through a swampy grove of trees. The buildings house the Tower Café and the Fire Department Museum.

Nice beer garden. There are the usual snacks and also crepes. You can sit in the shade under large trees. The former runway is fully accessible and is often used by skaters.

Very interesting biotope at the western end. Otherwise, a great MTB meeting with a pub and beer garden, etc. right on the Nidda.
