This small road is a great, but also demanding alternative to the L173 to drive from Obersimonswald to Furtwangen. Although the country road from Obersimonswald to Gütenbach is also a very nice racing bike route, it suffers a little from the noticeable traffic, especially because the motorcycle group also appreciates the many curves.
On the small courtyard access road, you have to be very unlucky if you even come across a motorized vehicle - there is a wonderful calm here, in which you can devote yourself to the ascent. However, the gradient screwed up to 12-15% over longer stretches and there was a small intermediate gradient, so that a certain mountain strength is advisable. The pavement is mostly tidy, but there is a 200 m long piece that is currently only gravel, but is also unproblematic for narrow tires. The steepest ascent leads through shady forest, in the upper area then over meadows with a great view. It goes into Furtwangen with a decent gradient - in the village through a 30 km / h zone - here, however, you get considerably faster without using the brakes.
