The climbs that can be traveled with the bdc are 3, a part from S.Andrea di Compito, on the Lucca side, a part from Calci and the last from Buti, both in the province of Pisa. Long climbs with an average of 7%. The Sant'Andrea climb is the most closed, as a view, and coolest of the three ascents.

To reach the summit of Monte Serra you have 3 ascent possibilities, from Buti it is the easiest of the 3 slopes, about 8 km in length at 6.5% constant without particular difficult points, from Calci about 8 km to 7.8% with the first 2.5 km in the inhabited area of Castelmaggiore with peaks of 13/14%. Both of these climbs after 8 km join at a crossroads where the I Cristalli restaurant is located. To reach the summit under the antennas you have to continue along the road for about another 4 km, very demanding, especially the first 2km with slopes never lower than 8%.

The final kilometer and a half enters a small road immersed in the woods that reaches the antennas with fairly pedalable slopes.

The climb from Pieve di Compito on the Lucca side is different, here the climb is totally immersed in the woods with a length of 10.5 km with an average gradient of about 8% but up to 9 km hardly ever takes a breath. After 10.5 km you will arrive about 1.5 km from the summit.
