In 1903, the railway line through the Albula Valley over the Albula Pass to St. Moritz in the Engadin began operation, a technical feat that has since been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In 2012, the Railway Museum opened at Bergün Station: "Here, through multimedia-designed rooms and original exhibits, visitors can learn about both historical and current aspects of the most spectacular of all Swiss railway lines, as well as information on the construction history and the economic and social changes brought about by the construction of the railway."
