One of the most important churches in the Uckermark and the oldest building in Angermünde is St. Marienkirche. Visible from afar, the Marienkirche rises on the highest point in the city with its imposing west work. The church originally had up to 17 side altars, a large triumphal cross with nine figures of saints, a Renaissance altar from 1600, in addition to the Marienkapelle on the north side, a south chapel that was demolished before 1730, several galleries and probably a large number of paintings and tombstones.

The large parish church of Angermünde can look back on almost 800 years of history. Even from the outside, you can see the different sections of the different types of masonry well. The original construction consisted of cuboid boulders. From the 17th century, various additions were made in the style of the brick Gothic. The most striking feature is the impressive church tower. In addition, the old, much smaller windows on the nave were replaced by tall arched windows.
