From central Seoul this is a bit of a mission to get to, with a long “bike path commute” required to reach it but it’s been on my hit list for some time and didn’t disappoint. This is a fairly tough climb with a Strava segment that rates this a shade over 9% average, starting out with an initial 4% this doesn’t hang around and quickly ramps up to sections of between 10-15%. There is however rarely a vehicle to be seen, so take advantage of an outside line round corners and climb slowly at your own pace.
There’s a small downhill section (take care of loose gravel here and there) before you are alongside a decent sized reservoir that’s regrettably pretty obscured by foliage but this won’t be the case in winter. What follows, is what feels almost like an alpine hill top valley not out of place I suppose but no less unexpectedly beautiful. There are a couple of nice gentle pitches as you progress through this little remote village.
The downhill from here is pretty steep, so caution is recommended with lots of red grippy paint, was a bit damp on my first attempt, so took the foot off a little as it was a shade sketchy for my liking.
A great segment, will definitely try a work it into future rides!
