FBG tank farm Aschaffenburg, a military facility, is located in Hesse, south of the Waldrandsiedlung, near the former clay pit of Mainhausen.
The tank farm used to have a central military importance during the Cold War. Today it is used when necessary to supply civilian customers at Frankfurt Airport with kerosene. The system in the Mainhausen Forest primarily has a storage function. It is connected to NATO's European pipeline network, which connects seaports, refineries and customers. Four of the original seven tanks have since been shut down, and the remaining three have been extensively renovated
