The village of Lindenau, first documented in 1151 in connection with a saltworks under the name "Lyndenowa," is distinguished by its well-kept half-timbered houses in the Franconian style, arranged along the gently winding streets. Nestled among fields and meadows, Lindenau is a quiet, contemplative place for those seeking relaxation, as well as for cycling and hiking enthusiasts.

Lindenau was once known not only in the region, but throughout Germany and the world for the healing properties of Friedrichshall Bitterwasser, which received the highest recognition with a gold medal at the World Medical Congress in 1913. The renowned chemist Justus von Liebig (1803–1873) confirmed the high quality of the healing water, which was prescribed especially for stomach and intestinal problems, as well as gout. However, the extraction of this once-famous water has ceased. Today, the site houses a residential and nursing home for people with mental disabilities, which has been enhanced through extensive renovations and the construction of a new ward.

In Lindenau, too, living traditions are very important. Annual baking and brewery festivals, a parish festival, and other events for young and old, organized by the village associations, take place.
